Bledel hoping for more serious roles

Hollywood actress Alexis Bledel has revealed how she hopes to be taken seriously as an actress and hopes to take on some more adult roles as her career progresses. Alexis is probably best known for playing Rory in Gilmore Girls, which ended back in 2007.
Alexis has since appeared in a number of rom com college movies but is hoping to break into some more serious films. She explained, “My agent did tell me that if I wanted to be a serious artist, I had to put that out there and take myself seriously. I really responded to that advice; I think he’s right.”
Alexis Bledel is currently preparing to film her next movie The Letters, which is a horror movie written and directed by Todd Fjelsted. The movie centres around a pregnant woman in 1978 whose husband begins to breakdown following the death of his twin brother. It is expected to be released late next year or early 2013.

‘The Conspirator’ At Cannes?

Though it only started shooting in October and is planned for a late 2010 Oscar-based release, Robert Redford’s ‘it wasn’t there and now it’s finished’ film The Conspirator may compete at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. But then, so may a lot of films so hold on to that grain of salt.
Redford’s film, written by James D. Solomon (ESPN’s minseries The Bronx Is Burning), concerns Mary Surratt (Robin Wright Penn), who was charged as a co-conspirator in the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. The film also stars Justin Long Alexis Bledel, James McAvoy, Evan Rachel Wood, Danny Huston, Kevin Kline and Tom Wilkinson.
The Cannes rumors appear to be purely speculative, but it’d be interesting to see for sure.

Alexis Bledel ‘likes complicated guys’

Alexis Bledel has revealed that she always dates nice men. The actress, who stars in The Good Guy, explained that she doesn’t think she is attracted to “bad boys”. “[I date] mostly good guys, I think,” she told Popeater. “I don’t know. It’s so funny to try to define people as good or bad. I know that’s the theme of the film, but no, not really. I’ve been pretty lucky to date so many nice guys.” However, she added that she likes her partners to be complex, explaining: “It’s nice when someone is a nice guy but he has to have something that’s complicated.”

Bledel ‘too young’ to be intimidated by Redford

Gilmore Girls fans hoping to see the beloved TV series up on the big screen shouldn’t expect anything soon. “I don’t know,” star Alexis Bledel told PopEater.com in an exclusive interview. “I was really happy with the way they wrapped up the series in the finale and I thought they brought the story full circle. It was very satisfying for me. I don’t know what the story would be, but I would be curious to find out what it would be.” Don’t expect a return to the small screen, either. “I’m not looking for it immediately, but I don’t rule it out. There are so many great shows on right now,” she said. Bledel recently wrapped work on The Conspirator, directed by Robet Redford. On whether she was intimidated by the Oscar-winning director, she said, “I think I’m too young.” “I was quite nervous every day on set,” she added, “because I wanted to do a good job. Bledel: ‘To Play An Action Hero Would Be Amazing’

Alexis Bledel may not be known for her karate moves or superpowers, but the star said she wouldn’t mind strapping on the spandex on screen.
“I actually love action movies,” she told AccessHollywood.com during the junket for her latest film, The Good Guy, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills. “I don’t think there are enough female action heroes. One of my favorites is Carrie-Anne Moss in The Matrix — so I would love to see more characters like that in film in general and to play one would be amazing.”
While she did star in comic book-turned-film Sin City in 2005, Alexis said one of her past Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants co-stars won’t need her help in bringing another comic to life.
“No, she knows what she’s doing, she doesn’t need my advice at all,” Alexis laughed of Blake Lively, who will star alongside Ryan Reynolds in 2011’s Green Lantern.
But as for her current film, Alexis was happy to play a more normal role in The Good Guy – a New Yorker settling in on her career and romantic options, which include Scott Porter and Bryan Greenberg vying for her affections.
“I just really responded to this script,” she said. “You read so many romantic stories that kind of follow a formula, so this one was different, and when I talked to [director] Julio [DePietro] about it before signing on, he had a clear idea of the movie he wanted to make and that was really encouraging.”
And while Porter and Greenberg may have a rivalry on film, she said there was no competition between the two actors on the set.
“No,” she laughed. “Nothing like that.”
With Valentine’s Day coming up this weekend, Alexis was thankful she hadn’t had to deal with any real-life love triangles.
“I’ve played this love triangle situation several times but I’ve never experienced it in real life,” she said. “It seems like an unlikely thing to have happen to most people.”
Up next, Alexis has a pair of movies on the way– The Conspirator, directed by Robert Redford, and an indie film called The Kate Logan Affair.
“Two people meet, an accident occurs and they end up on the road together,” she said of The Kate Logan Affair, adding that their journey comes to a tragic end.
One more film that might be on her plate? A long-rumored big-screen version of Gilmore Girls, which Alexis said she’d strongly consider if it ever came to pass.
“I really loved our series finale, I thought it tied up the story beautifully. I thought it came full circle,” she said. “I don’t know what story there is left to tell but I would be open to reading a script. I’d be curious to read a script!” Source: AccessHollywood.com
