Wood, Wilkinson round out ‘The Conspirator’ cast
Robert Redford has added Tom Wilkinson, Evan Rachel Wood, Kevin Kline, Alexis Bledel and Toby Kebbell to the cast of his President Lincoln assassination drama The Conspirator. The quintet join James McAvoy, Robin Wright Penn and Justin Long in the historical film, which details the aftermath of Lincoln’s killing at Ford’s Theatre in 1865. Wilkinson will play US senator Reverdy Johnson, Wood the daughter of co-conspirator Mary Surratt (Penn), Kline is Lincoln’s war secretary Edwin Stanton, Bledel the wife of McAvoy’s war hero assigned to protect Surrat, and Kebbell Lincoln’s murderer John Wilkes Booth. Shooting started on The Conspirator, Redford’s first directorial outing since 2007’s Lions For Lambs, in Savannah, Georgia last Monday.
